Lead Product Designer Web

This role involves defining user problems and opportunities to improve website experience and performance in collaboration with cross-functional teams, while managing the design of individual projects from initiation through release. The designer will create strategic design briefs, iterate on solutions from sketches to prototypes, and document final designs for handoff.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our partners to define the user problems and opportunities for improving the experience and performance of our website
- Contribute to feature roadmaps and planning in collaboration with our cross-functional teams to define our focus in the quarters ahead
- Collaborate with design teams across Rivian including commercial, design, service, and enterprise
- Manage the design of individual projects and workstreams from initiation through release
- Create strategic design briefs to set the framing and scope of each project
- Understand user needs through contextual inquiry
- Iterate on possible solutions throughout the design process, from early sketches to polished final prototypes
- Present work to business stakeholders and design leadership
- Document final designs in detailed handoff files
- Apply our design system to drive consistency across our digital ecosystem
- Work with our Design Systems team to stretch and redefine our patterns when needed
- Work closely with development partners throughout the build process to test in-flight work prior to release
Requirements
- 5-7+ years working in product design with expertise in product design including web platforms
- 2+ (Preferred) years working on e-commerce with expertise across both visual design and experience design
- Experience localizing direct to consumer purchase experiences across domestic and global geographies
- Comfort with presenting your work, explaining your thinking and working with others to bring your vision to life
- Expertise with Figma features like prototyping, autolayout and component build and refinement for efficiency within design and engineering
- Familiarity with user research methodologies, A/B Testing , and usability best practices
- Deep knowledge of commerce and check-out flows
- Thorough understanding of web UX principles
- Ability to pick things up quickly, manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting timelines and priorities
- Domain experience in digital commerce
- Experience working closely with cross functional teams in an agile fashion
- Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- A compelling visual portfolio of work to demonstrate design experience
