The role focuses on creating physical LEGO models that inspire creativity and joy, designing new models and play experiences. Collaboration with various designers is essential to bring ideas to life and ensure model clarity and storytelling potential.
Responsibilities
- Designing new LEGO models and play experiences
- Creating builds that are fun & playful, functional, and faithful to the LEGO System in Play
- Collaborating closely with Concept Designers, Graphic Designers, Element Designers, and others to bring ideas to life
- Working across themes, age groups, and building styles — from character-driven sets to system innovations
- Supporting team dialogues on the value of play, model clarity, building challenge, and storytelling potential
- Developing and refining LEGO models, ensuring structural stability, build quality, and attention to details
Requirements
- Hands-on experience creating LEGO models — professionally or as a fan
- Passion for building with LEGO bricks and understanding the LEGO System
- Ability to design original models that are playful, clear, and full of character
- Curiosity about designing for different ages and a sense of what makes a LEGO set fun, functional, or collectible
- Comfort iterating models based on feedback
- Collaborative, curious, and hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Formal design education or creative experience — a plus for structuring design thinking, communicating ideas clearly, and turning concepts into tangible models
- Experience with 3D modelling or digital building tools (e.g., LEGO Digital Designer, Studio) — a plus
