The Summer Junior Graphic Designers will support the Communications and Citizen Engagement Department by creating design collateral for both print and digital media, utilizing software like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. Key duties include organizing digital assets, assisting in conceptualizing new materials, supporting client communication, and assisting with provincial events and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit digital graphics and promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and other design software/platforms
  • Organize digital and branded files and assets
  • Help conceptualize new design materials
  • Support client and project communication
  • Assist with administration of Otipemisiwak Métis Government Provincial events & programs

Requirements

  • Obtained or pursuing a post-secondary education in Graphic Design or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in a design role
  • Strong technical skills with digital media
  • Excellent communication skills

In 1928, Alberta Métis began organizing to advance Métis self-determination and self-government in the province, leading to the creation of the Métis Nation of Alberta. In November 2022, Métis Citizens overwhelmingly ratified a constitution to establish the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. In September 2023, the first election under the Otipemisiwak Métis Government Constitution was held. The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is now the government of the Métis Nation within Alberta and is recognized as such by the Government of Canada through a self-government agreement signed between the parties in 2023. Currently, there are over 70,000 Métis Albertans registered as Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
