Senior Technical UI Designer

Onsite $100,000 - $150,000 Full-time Senior

The Senior Technical UI Designer will implement UI systems design in Unreal Engine, build rapid prototypes, and enhance workflows. They will collaborate with UX Designers, UI Artists, and UI Programmers to deliver features to millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Work on UI Systems Design, breaking down features and wireframes into necessary widgets, materials, and input navigation
  • Increase UI performance by ensuring best practices are being followed by colleagues
  • Learn to profile performance and costs of UMG/Slate/C++/and texture memory
  • Implement blueprint logic when presentation logic calls for it
  • Assist UI Artists in implementing special presentation behavior
  • Consult with UI Programmers on what logic will be in blueprint vs native code
  • Debug blueprints/UMG issues quickly using various tools and techniques
  • Find ways to assist UX, UI Art, and UI Programming in organization, documentation, and building workflow improvements

Requirements

  • Experience in building UI and experiences in game engines and across multiple platforms
  • Professional experience using Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Engine experience, such as Custom engine, Unity, Unreal Engine, Lumberyard, or Snowdrop
  • Understanding of game industry 3D-package experience, such as 3D Studio or Maya
  • Eye for pixel-perfect UI and ability to translate and spot potential issues with mockups
  • Logical problem solver with excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to "translate" communication across departments and empathize with non-technical team members
