
Contractor, Scientific Graphic Designer

The Scientific Graphic Designer will develop visually engaging graphical abstracts and ensure that all visuals are scientifically accurate and aligned with client requirements. Responsibilities also include reading scientific manuscripts, developing storyboards, and collaborating with researchers and clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop visually engaging graphical abstracts that succinctly represent the essence of a scientific study
- Read and comprehend scientific manuscripts to extract key visual elements and concepts
- Develop storyboards that outline the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with the scientific content and client objectives
- Generate rough sketches to illustrate the initial visual concepts, collaborating closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation
- Reviewing peers and freelancers’ outputs to ensure they meet client expectations and are delivery-ready
Requirements
- Graduate/PhD degree in STEM fields (especially Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering)
- 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing
- Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstract
- Understanding of the scientific publishing & science communication landscape
