Design Engineering Intern

The intern will support new product development from concept to production, assisting in the design, specification, and testing of mechanical systems/components. They will also design and build test fixtures and perform validation and performance testing for helmet systems/components.
Responsibilities
- Support new product development anywhere from concept up to production
- Assist in the design, specification and testing of mechanical systems/components as part of a helmet system
- Design and build test fixtures, and perform validation and performance testing for the helmet system/component
- Work with vendors to identify and qualify new materials and components
- Be given assignments within teams requiring originality and ingenuity while under Senior Engineering supervision
Requirements
- Completed at least two years of study in a Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Materials Science, or other relevant Engineering B.S. degree program
- At least one non-technical position demonstrating work skills, with one technical related work experience preferred
- Class work in the following areas: Computer Aided Design, Statics and Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechatronics, Differential Equations, Chemistry, Physics 1 and 2
- Knowledge of one or more of the following: SolidWorks (or similar package), Finite Element Analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Composite Materials, Composite Resin Systems
- Detail oriented with very good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with good team skills, strong analytical skills, and strong interpersonal skills
