Senior Graphic Designer - Maternity Cover

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to work in Communications and Digital Publishing, improving visual communication of products and services, managing brand assets, and creating print and digital communications.

Responsibilities

• Work with service managers, clients or business areas to develop design concepts
• Potentially have responsibility across complex services
• Help set direction and embed good practice within teams
• Make important decisions based on research and understand how this research impacts others
• Facilitate design sessions such as workshops, peer critiques or show and tells
• Lead on the creation of storyboarding for animations and reels, working in partnership with our video team
• Be able to confidently illustrate scenes, people and objects, contributing to our library of assets

Requirements

• Design communication: clearly explain complex problems and ideas to teams or stakeholders outside of design
• Designing for everyone: ensure a design meets appropriate standards, for example accessibility regulations
• Designing strategically: challenge clients who are not considering users and present the benefits of following a user centred design process
• Designing together: effectively involve the right people throughout the design process
• Iterative design: adapt designs quickly to changes in requirements, priorities or user needs
• Leading design: actively help to raise the standard of design across the organisation through standard setting, promoting good design or innovative improvements
