Design Engineering Intern

The intern will support the Engineering team in the design, development, and testing of a two-piece size 8 contact. Responsibilities include assisting in design modeling, conducting analyses, collaborating on prototypes, and documenting test results.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and modeling of the interface between the two contact halves.
• Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to produce prototype components.
• Test prototypes for separation force, electrical performance, and other key metrics.
• Document test results, analyze findings, and recommend design improvements.
• Perform cost/benefit and manufacturability analyses to determine production feasibility.
• Support the creation of technical documentation and design calculations.
• Ensure all work aligns with quality, safety, and engineering standards.
• Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
• Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Physics, or Physics.
• Physical: Regular walking, standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and crouching. May lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Internship Time: This internship will take place in 2026 from May 18th to August 7th.
• Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a production and office environment with exposure to machinery, moderate noise, and standard shop materials.
