Human-Centered Industrial Designer 2

A Human-Centered Industrial Designer 2 role at Veranex, leading and supporting client projects in the MedTech space, focusing on user-centered design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Human-Centered Industrial Design functional lead supporting client projects in the MedTech space
• Leading and supporting the industrial design of medical and healthcare devices and technologies
• Responsible for creating compelling design solutions that align user, technical, and business needs of the project
• Ensure that all elements of the user experience are considered for usability, enabling technology, and overall business goals of our clients
• Leverage exceptional visual design and communication skills on active client projects
• Support a range of activities and deliverables that could include the following areas: concept generation, refined concept solutions, visual brand language and form development, 2-D and 3-D renderings creation, animations, low- to high-fidelity physical prototypes, specification packages, and client presentations
• Support a culture of critical review and design critique with the aim of creating products and experiences that are intuitive and effective by use case
• Collaboration with Research & Strategy and Human Factors Engineers to translate insights and user feedback into design solutions
• Present design solutions to clients with clear design intent and able to plan design activities so the HCID team is set up for success on client projects
• Advises client relationships as a design lead or supporting designer and supports the project team’s goals
• Ability to develop client presentations, capturing the design process
• Ability to work through tight deadlines by planning activities, setting expectations and pacing yourself to deliver within timeline and budget on projects
• Works with the Director of HCID and senior-level design staff as needed to plan these activities
• Support and build team culture and discipline expertise
• Receives guidance and takes direction well from senior-level designers and leadership
• Participates in fostering a creative, collaborative team through supporting HCID staff in conceptualizing comprehensive product design solutions
• Shares knowledge and actively listens for the team’s needs
• Assists management with team-building activities, as needed
• Interest in gaining awareness of business development activities
• Interest in understanding the proposal process, sales, and marketing activities
• Advocate in the Industrial Design community to establish themselves as a leader

Requirements

• BFA, BS, BA, or BID in Industrial Design or another related technical field
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience in Industrial Design
• A portfolio of professional design work that showcases process, skills, and experiences
• Proficient with 2-D and 3-D visual communication tools and software
• Ability to communicate visually and strong visual storytelling skills
• Ability to develop client presentations, capturing the design process, and the value of design solutions with associated tradeoffs
• Assistance with usability testing of early design prototypes, while capturing user feedback for integration into the system
• Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
