Product Designer, Design Systems

The Product Designer will advance Clutch's design system by building, documenting, and maintaining core patterns and components. They will also collaborate with product teams to apply and extend these systems across user-facing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong understanding of the Clutch product ecosystem, design tools, processes, and the needs of internal design and engineering teams.
• Establish strong collaboration with other designers, engineers, and product managers.
• Start improving and maintaining existing design system components, documentation, and Figma libraries.
• Take ownership of key system areas—improving component quality, interaction patterns, tokens, and accessibility.
• Partner closely with engineers to ensure parity and consistency between Figma and code.
• Collaborate with other designers on product initiatives, ensuring system alignment and evolving the system as new patterns emerge.
• Strengthen system documentation and contribute to contribution and review processes.
• Help scale the system across teams—evangelizing usage, improving contribution models, and providing guidance to designers and engineers.
• Champion cohesive user experiences through systems thinking and shared patterns.
• Propose improvements to design workflows, accessibility standards, or tooling that elevate the team’s craft and efficiency.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience as a product designer, including at least one major project owning, contributing to, or maintaining a design system.
• Strong skills in visual design, interaction design, and component architecture, with a deep appreciation for reusability, clarity, and scale.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma (components, variants, tokens, documentation, libraries).
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineers and designers to align system and implementation.
• Clear visual and written communication—able to explain rationale, document patterns, and advocate for design quality.
• A desire to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
