Plan, design, and execute user research studies to inform product development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into the development process.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute a variety of user research studies (e.g., usability testing, contextual inquiries, interviews, surveys) to inform product development
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to uncover actionable insights and communicate findings to stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the integration of research findings into the development process
- Contribute to promoting user-centric design principles across the organization
- Develop personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to communicate research insights effectively
- Build and maintain a repository of insights, research data, and participant profiles to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity
- Establish and refine research processes, templates, and tools to improve efficiency and scalability
- Manage participant recruitment and maintain relationships with external vendors, ensuring diverse and representative user samples
- Support compliance with ethical and legal standards for user research, including data privacy policies
- Help establish and roll out UX Research Standards, ensuring high-quality, consistent practices and mentoring team members on research best practices and processes
- Track, measure, and report on research impact over time
- Work collaboratively within cross-disciplinary teams, as well as stakeholders
Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting UX research in a professional setting
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or technology industries (preferred)
- Strong understanding of UX research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative approaches (preferred)
- Experience managing research operations, tools, and participant recruitment processes (preferred)
- Proficiency in research tools such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, Dovetail, or similar platforms (preferred)
- Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights (preferred)
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels (preferred)
- Familiarity with agile development processes and working in cross-functional teams (preferred)
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices (preferred)
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and methods (preferred)
- Previous experience mentoring junior researchers or leading research teams (preferred)
