Senior UI Designer, Unannounced Game | Irvine, CA

The Senior UI Designer will be responsible for creating user interfaces for an unannounced game. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless user experience.
Responsibilities
- Work with the UI/UX and Art Leads to establish and polish the look of the game’s UI, covering menus, gameplay elements, and any additional user interfaces whilst adhering to the established UI style guide, game direction, and overall theme and aesthetic
- Creation of assets based on defined art styles from initial concepts to final shippable product
- Implementation of assets using custom frameworks into the game engine
- Work closely with team members across art, audio, design, engineering, production, and sound to problem solve and ensure that the visual assets are combining to create the best possible user experience
- Regularly present work within your feature team to gather feedback toward refining the player experience
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in UI design in gaming, with experience on a shipped or live service title
- Strong understanding of visual design, color theory, and typography
- Proficiency in UI graphics design tools (E.g. Photoshop)
- Expertise in AAA game engines with a solid understanding of art implementation and integration workflows
- Experience creating visual assets and integrating into complex UI systems from concept through implementation in engine across multiple platforms with distinct inputs (PC and Mobile)
Key Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- A clear understanding of art optimization, game, and engine constraints
- Ability to conceptualize, pitch, and implement game concepts using various tools, technology, and visual language
- Positive attitude and an ability to receive and provide objective feedback
- Experience manipulating UI materials like repeating animations and VFX
- Proficiency in UX design tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Illustrator), wireframing, prototyping, and user research methodologies
- Motion graphics or animation experience
- 3D modeling or texturing experience
- Active player of a variety of mobile titles, especially turn-based strategy games
