Social Media Manager / Graphic Designer - Golden State Storm

A non-paid, volunteer leadership role as Social Media Manager and Graphic Designer for the Golden State Storm, focusing on brand identity and fan base growth.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Strategy and Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across all major platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, LinkedIn) to drive brand awareness, fan engagement, and recruiting interest
- Content Calendar: Create, schedule, and post engaging content daily/weekly, including gameday updates, athlete spotlights, team news, community events, and fundraising campaigns
- Community Engagement: Actively monitor comments and direct messages, fostering positive and inclusive interaction with fans, sponsors, and the community
- Analytics: Track, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics to optimize strategy, demonstrate brand growth, and maximize reach
- Graphic Design and Visual Branding: Ensure all visual content adheres to the Golden State Storm brand guidelines as the brand is developed
- Maintain visual consistency across all materials (logos, colors, typography, tone)
- Asset Creation: Design high-quality, professional-level digital graphics for all social media channels, including gameday graphics, athlete and staff spotlight templates, sponsor integration graphics and promotional material, fundraising campaign visuals
- Merchandise/Marketing Support: Assist the leadership team in designing basic marketing materials (e.g., flyers, presentations, simple merchandise graphics) as needed
- Video/Motion Graphics (A Plus): Basic video editing or motion graphic skills for short-form social content (e.g., TikTok, Instagram Reels) are highly desirable
Requirements
- Design Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign) or equivalent professional tools like Canva Pro
- Social Media Expertise: Proven experience managing professional social media accounts (preferably for a sports, entertainment, or startup brand) with a track record of driving engagement
- Portfolio Required: Candidates must provide a portfolio or links to active social media accounts/design work demonstrating relevant skills
- Startup Mentality: Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, startup environment with limited resources
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines required
- Commitment: Must be able to commit approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling, but requiring timely content delivery (e.g., gameday posting)
- Passion: A strong enthusiasm for women's sports, the mission of the WNFC, and building a professional team brand from scratch
