Design, document, and maintain reusable components and patterns for a cohesive user experience. Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of design systems in code.
Responsibilities
- Design, document, and maintain reusable components, patterns, and templates that scale across product teams, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and performance.
- Create, iterate, and refine components and design tokens to improve usability, reduce inconsistencies, and drive adoption across platforms.
- Partner closely with engineers to ensure design systems are implemented accurately in code, accounting for quality, accessibility, and responsive behavior.
- Contribute to governance processes, helping define how components are proposed, reviewed, approved, and deprecated—balancing innovation with consistency.
- Identify and champion opportunities for system improvements based on usage data, feedback loops, and product roadmap alignment.
- Maintain clear documentation for designers and engineers that communicates usage guidelines, rationale, and responsive behavior for components and patterns.
- Participate in design reviews and system critiques, offering thoughtful feedback and guiding others toward scalable and inclusive solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience, with at least 2+ years of experience working on design systems or UI libraries.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Interaction, Industrial, Product, Service design or related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design system work and user-centered design solutions.
- Expert understanding of visual systems and practices, including layout, iconography, typography.
- Proficient in Figma and comfortable managing variables and components.
- A strong communicator and facilitator who can collaborate effectively on a global level with everyone from designers to engineers to leaders.
