Hybrid Full-time Senior

The Senior Graphic Designer will manage all visual aspects across the Money platform, including print, digital, podcasts, and social media. This role involves creating and commissioning graphic content that enhances the brand and improves the reader experience while meeting multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the brand; source and create visuals that reflect our heritage and trusted relationship with our existing audience while ensuring assets are fresh and constantly assessed to be modern, timely and relevant to our new audience
  • Create and commission graphic content for Money's print, digital and multimedia platforms in a way that elevates and reflects the brand tone, enhances specific stories and improves the reader/subscriber/listener experience
  • Design daily hero images, promotional assets, and social media content and ensure images are versioned and specifically tailored for each channel
  • Prioritise projects to meet multiple and simultaneous deadlines, including the monthly print, bi-weekly newsletters and weekly podcasts
  • Manage and mentor junior art department colleagues
  • Manage all freelance graphic contributors including graphics suppliers, cartoon suppliers, illustrators, and external retouching services
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Rainmaker design team to ensure marketing assets reflect the editorial voice
  • Workshop and design (using InDesign) the bespoke monthly print magazine cover in conjunction with the Managing Editor and sign off on the monthly print magazine dyelines
  • Support the digital editor and multimedia producer with graphic needs and production workflows
  • Ensure that all tables, values and copy referred to the sub editor are accurate and correct
  • Source and work with images supplied from story sources
  • Create templates and support content producers with graphic needs
  • Build original motion graphics (opens, lower thirds, slates, tags bumpers, etc.)
  • Ideate fresh ways to present data and information on the platform
  • Archive pages for future references
  • Upload the digital files for the Money app

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or any related courses
  • Has a minimum of eight (8) years' experience designing at a publishing/media company or digital agency, including in consumer print publications
  • Advanced experience with design software including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) - ability to do in-house image retouching will be well-regarded
  • Knowledge of emerging digital technologies and skilled at working within Content Management Systems, social, web, and video platforms
  • Strong storytelling capabilities and ability to conceptualise complex issues visually
  • Excellent communication skills, highly organized, creative, solutions focused and can thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Interested in finance and consumer-related news and developments
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Amenable to work in a hybrid work arrangement (at least 3 days onsite work per week)
