The Assistant Designer is responsible for drawing and documenting custom iterations of APPARATUS products. This role involves developing technical drawing packages and collaborating with sales and assembly teams on custom orders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate technical drawing packages, installation instructions and templates for custom orders, including rugs, furniture, lighting, objects and internal projects
  • Utilize aesthetic vocabulary of APPARATUS to create the best custom iterations of existing collections for client requests
  • Upload all custom order files into the appropriate software systems and organize drawing files on the shared server
  • Work proactively with the sales and assembly teams regarding custom orders, communicating about project questions, timelines and updates

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design
  • Proficiency in Solidworks, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • 1-3 years’ experience in industrial design, with a focus on lighting and furniture a plus
  • Experience designing with materials such as wood, metal, glass, porcelain and leather, including a basic understanding of their manufacturing properties
  • Experience in a high-paced environment that prioritizes precision, excellence and consistency
