The Graphic Designer produces high-quality design work for various marketing and communications needs while managing multiple projects. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to create effective design solutions and visual assets.
Responsibilities
- Produces compelling, strategic, and high-quality design work for a variety of marketing and communications needs across all mediums.
- Manages multiple design projects at a time, from research and ideation through delivery, while meeting project deadlines and upholding high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Adapts design concepts across multiple platforms (web, social media, email, presentations, print) to ensure alignment with strategy, objectives, and brand guidelines.
- Contributes to brainstorming meetings and initial project development, offering creative solutions and new ideas.
- Receives and acts on creative direction and design feedback in a professional, solution-oriented manner.
- Partners with internal stakeholdersāincluding admissions, student life, advancement, alumni, and faculty and staffāto translate communication needs into effective design solutions.
- Creates and distributes content for digital platforms, including social media, website, and blogs, to showcase campus life, academic programs, achievements, and events.
- Collaborates with the Marketing Director on Principia Collegeās external website and College app and supports associated College-specific external websites (e.g., Athletics, Study Abroad) to ensure consistency with brand standards and visual identity guidelines.
- Provides design support for major institutional events, campaigns, and initiatives as needed.
- Participates in institution-wide design review with designers from across the institution and the Creative and Brand Director to ensure consistency and quality.
- Supports and adheres to institutional design strategy, principles, and brand identity guidelines.
- Collaborates proactively with colleagues across campuses to support integrated communications and marketing initiatives.
- Keeps abreast of ongoing changes and trends in design and best practices, and applies them to continually improve the Collegeās visual communications.
Requirements
- Bachelorās degree in graphic design, fine arts, digital media, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3-5 years of professional design experience, including knowledge of design for both print and digital; higher education or non-profit experience preferred.
- Strong design portfolio (portfolio required).
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); experience with After Effects, PowerPoint, XD, Sketch, Figma, and other emerging platforms preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to execute polished and mobile-first designs for digital (website, email, social media).
- Proficient knowledge of print and prepress file setup and packaging; ability to work with print vendors.
- Strong background in branding, advertising, and creative campaign development across marketing channels.
