Onsite Full-time Senior Lead
Join Hinge's Trust & Safety group as a Senior Lead Product Designer to define the future of safe dating experiences, leading design strategy and mentoring other designers.
Responsibilities
- Define, own, and drive the multi-quarter design strategy and vision for user-facing Trust & Safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with product and user outcomes
- Lead the end-to-end design process for mission-critical projects, from discovery and research synthesis through ideation, high-fidelity prototyping, testing, and final specifications
- Guide and mentor other designers, running design critiques, creating quality assurance processes, and coaching them on integrating user research to elevate design quality across the group
- Model authenticity, courage, and empathy to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment, mediating between design and cross-functional priorities to ensure all disciplines contribute to key product decisions
- Analyze complex product challenges in the T&S space, applying design principles and data to deliver effective, innovative solutions that go beyond standard patterns
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data Science, Operations, and Policy to align on insights and build consensus around design direction for ambiguous problem spaces
- Champion and evolve Hinge's design system and visual language to ensure a cohesive and high-quality user experience across all safety touchpoints
- Provide guidance and support on technical design tasks, pairing with teammates to explore new prototyping tools and coaching individuals on applying design principles to raise the quality of their work
Requirements
- 8+ years in end-to-end product design (UX/UI) including experience designing consumer-facing mobile applications
- Proven track record of leading design for complex, impactful products
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional systems thinking, user-centered design in sensitive problem spaces, and the ability to deliver innovative design solutions
- Proven ability to develop and drive design vision and strategy that has influenced product roadmaps and business outcomes
- Expertise in facilitating collaborative workshops and aligning diverse, cross-functional teams in ambiguous environments
Key Skills
- Design Craft & Mastery: Mastery across the product design lifecycle: advanced research synthesis, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping for novel experiences
- Complex Problem Solving: Ability to rapidly unpack nuanced, sensitive challenges (like user safety) and orchestrate partners to align on insights and design strategies
- Mentorship & Influence: A history of successfully mentoring other designers and providing actionable feedback that supports their growth and elevates team-wide craft
- Communication & Presence: Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align at all levels of the organization
- Proactive, empathetic, and adaptable mindset, comfortable driving change and making complex decisions with little precedent
