Senior Product Designer

Understand customer needs and translate insights into innovative features. Collaborate with engineering and product managers to refine designs and validate concepts for new features.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand the needs of Formlabs customers, translating their insights into innovative features.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to refine designs and bring them to life, driving features from low-fidelity wireframes to pixel-perfect prototypes and public release.
• Partner with product managers to ideate, define, and validate early-stage concepts for new features delivering significant business value and exceptional user experiences.
• Conduct in-depth research by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing product usage data, creating high-fidelity prototypes, and validating assumptions with usability studies to inform customer-focused, strategic design decisions.
• Conduct regular audits of the end-to-end user experience across the ecosystem and propose impactful initiatives to leadership.
• Help design, grow, and maintain robust and scalable design systems ensuring consistency and efficiency across all products.

Requirements

• Proven track record of working on complex, technical products, ideally with experience spanning desktop, web, mobile, or embedded interfaces.
• Clear understanding of human-computer interaction principles, effectively communicating design intentions to collaborators.
• Strong and diverse portfolio including early-stage ideation, user research, and pixel-perfect designs.
• Deep expertise with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Thrive in a collaborative environment, taking and giving constructive feedback.
• Prior experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working closely with product and engineering teams.

Key Skills

• Background in human-computer interaction, design, or computer science.
• Interest in 3D printing, CAD, computational geometry, and/or related technologies.
• Experience with web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and/or Electron).
• Experience with Qt, QML, or OpenGL.
