The Graphic Designer I develops and prepares graphic art to visually translate the organization’s communications goals. This role includes creating designs for internal communications and assisting with external design campaigns while adhering to graphic standards.

Responsibilities

  • Creates designs that are intuitive and visually appealing for a variety of audiences, with a primary focus on internal communications
  • Employs color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and payout techniques to design engaging and educational projects
  • Resizes and handles production work on existing design work to build out campaign collateral
  • Prepares and exports final production files for both print and digital media
  • Consults with internal and external clients about print projects and produces materials to the client’s satisfaction
  • Organizes print objects and coordinates them through the printing and distribution processes
  • Conducts press checks and coordinates projects with METRO’s internal and external print shops
  • Handles routine projects and adheres to strictly established deadlines
  • Participates in department creative meetings, collaborating with team members to generate innovative ideas and solutions
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers
  • Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP)
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in graphic design or a related degree
  • Minimum two years’ experience producing printed and digital marketing materials
  • Project coordination experience is preferred
  • General knowledge of industry-standard graphic software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • General knowledge in the use of Apple computer and Adobe Create Cloud software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is preferred
  • Ability to take administrative and artistic direction
  • Strong communications (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

Key Skills
