The Designer will lead the creation of innovative designs focused on watch products, developing original concepts and collaborating cross-functionally. Responsibilities include conducting market research, developing detailed sketches, and ensuring designs meet technical standards.
Responsibilities
- Design original watch concepts and collections that reflect Shinola’s aesthetic and brand vision
- Lead seasonal design presentations, communicating creative direction and product concepts
- Conduct market and trend research to identify opportunities and ensure competitive positioning
- Develop detailed sketches, renderings, and design specifications to guide development
- Own color, material, and finish selections for watch collections
- Build and maintain accurate design documentation, including tech packs
- Partner with Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams to bring designs to life
- Ensure designs meet technical and quality standards throughout the development lifecycle
- Mentor and collaborate with Associate Designers to foster growth and creativity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or related field
- 2–5 years of design experience in watches, accessories, or consumer products
- Strong creative and conceptual design skills, with a refined sense of aesthetics
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing watch or product design work
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Skilled in 3D design software (SolidWorks, Alias) and rendering software (Keyshot)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
