UI/UX Designer at GovCIO, remotely supporting the VR&E PSES contract to update the VA.gov website, focusing on accessibility, usability, and overall experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement user interface wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize design concepts effectively
- Create and maintain comprehensive design system libraries within Figma and Storybook for consistent UI implementation
- Participate in system planning, development, and deployment processes while ensuring adherence to software compliance and testing standards
- Oversee frontend design processes, establish user guidelines, and conduct Veteran-centered research sessions to gather user insights
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless project execution, focusing on delivering high-quality user interfaces within project timelines
- Mentor and lead the design team to promote best practices in UX/UI design and foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence
- Develop and uphold UX design standards and best practices across all user interfaces to ensure consistency and quality
- Engage in user requirement gathering, craft user stories, and manage project timelines and estimates to optimize the design process
- Create detailed UX documentation, including design specifications, user guidelines, and maintenance manuals for clarity and effective communication
- Lead user testing and UX integration efforts to verify system usability, functionality, and user satisfaction
- Maintain active communication with internal and external stakeholders to align design goals and address any user experience issues promptly
- Perform UX analyses of system requirements to optimize interface design and system performance, considering data flow and user interaction patterns
- Participate in design and sprint reviews to ensure all UI deliverables meet user needs and project specifications
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design
- Proven expertise in designing interactive applications using Figma, including high-fidelity prototypes and dynamic interfaces
- Strong analytical skills to investigate user behaviors and derive actionable insights
- Experience leading UX projects independently and managing design processes
- Proficiency in collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, including developers, product managers, and stakeholders
- Knowledge of Agile UX methodologies and iterative design processes
- Familiarity with cloud-based UX tools and environments such as InVision, Zeplin, and design version control tools like Github
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and others
- Ability to effectively manage remote work setups, demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills
- Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the United States
