A Lead Designer role in SurveyMonkey's Authoring team to shape the user experience of the survey creation and respondent flows, ensuring design solutions meet both end-to-end user needs and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic value and bring your innovative spirit to the table.
  • Lead cross-functional ideation sessions, developing concepts that are strategically different and transformative.
  • Expertly select and adapt methodologies to optimize project outcomes.
  • Uncover opportunities to raise the bar within the team and introduce new frameworks, methodologies, and trends.
  • Identify opportunities that benefit customers, such as cross-workstream collaboration to promote a holistic, end-to-end experience for our users.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles in product strategy discussions.
  • Set new benchmarks in user-centric design.
  • Form and communicate data-driven rationales that elevate strategic value.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality design solutions that align with user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Execute hands-on design work, including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals.
  • Strategically employ varying UI fidelity levels to maximize engagement, accelerate decisions, and drive innovation throughout development.
  • Push the boundaries of creative excellence, while having expert awareness of SurveyMonkeyโ€™s design system.
  • Connect the dots and identify opportunities for shared components to be ratified into the system.
  • Ensure designs are scalable, accessible, and optimized for performance.
  • Consider impact on varying form factors.
  • Maintain a pulse on innovations in user experiences, visual design, and the subtle details and triggers (e.g. micro-animations, motion graphics) that shape those โ€˜moments of delightโ€™.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to validate design decisions through user testing and analytics.
  • Collaborate with user researchers or conduct research yourself to understand the mental models of our users and validate design decisions through moderated and unmoderated research methods.
  • Partner closely with designers to ensure cohesive direction and outcomes in their work.
  • Leverage technical knowledge to bridge the gap between design and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and researchers, to ensure seamless integration of design into development processes.
  • Build trust and support across the organization through effective communication and collaboration, influencing outcomes and building consensus.
  • Instill trust and build effective working relationships with senior management and key decision-makers.

Requirements

  • 12+ years experience in the design field, most recently working as a Lead Designer or Senior Designer in product design roles.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated Design Systems expertise.
  • Experience with Data implementation tools such as Amplitude, Pendo, Eppo.
  • Familiarity utilizing Jira to facilitate project tracking.
  • Familiarity with user research tools.
  • Has worked with design teams with 4+ Product and UX designers.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design craft across digital products.
  • Expertise in Figma.
  • Experience working within a SaaS environment is highly preferred.
