Product Designer (Content Specialist)

The Product Designer (Content Specialist) will work within a specific value stream to create intuitive digital experiences for UK investors. This role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to understand customer needs and design effective solutions for the Public Website.

Responsibilities

  • Understand what our customers need/want and, in collaboration with other designers, solve problems and design sensible experiences.
  • Familiar with the gov.uk content guidelines, you know content best practice and you’re an expert at writing for accessibility.
  • Comfortable working with Design Systems (Storybook & Figma) and readily able to build prototypes & designs from these building blocks.
  • Familiar (and ideally experienced) with AEM for Content Management.
  • Have the ability to translate complex financial/investments concepts into simple, plain English language.
  • Produce different types of content (microcopy, conversational, product marketing, help/instructional) and adapt your content to the medium.
  • Understand that consistency is important but also that, at times, breaking away from it is necessary to create meaningful content.
  • Contribute to research activities by helping with research plans, discussion guide, build prototypes and insight synthesis.
  • Autonomously drive the production of design work and lead the sign-off process with Product, business stakeholders, legal and compliance.
  • Proactively engage with your immediate stakeholder group (PM, Marketing, UX, Developers) but also other relevant SMEs (legal, compliance, business strategy, customer services, etc).
  • Engage with the Content and Design practice through show and tell and contribute to the betterment of the Design craft as a whole.
  • Understand UX, the Double Diamond and the Agile delivery mindset.
  • Work off hypothesis and problem statements.
  • Highly proficient in Figma – this is our workspace and where you’ll need to execute all design work.
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time and are comfortable with content-switching.
  • Adaptable designer and able to flex your ways of working depending on the nature of projects and the team you work with (mixture of proactive and reactive work).
  • Work autonomously, know what to do without being given specific tasks.
  • Proactive, take ownership of the work and constantly look to help and add value.
  • Curious, relentlessly ask questions, obsessed with understanding how our products/operational processes work and keen to keep learning (whether that’s insight or ways of working).
  • Build trust and work in symbiosis with other designers in the team, through constant and proactive communication.
  • Open-minded and selfless, recognize that design is a team sport and welcome scrutiny and design debates.
  • Able to run the Design conversation, from conceptualisation to leading meetings and workshop, connecting with the relevant SMEs, sourcing customer insight, etc.
  • Able to think strategically about your work and its impact beyond your immediate value stream.
  • Thorough and considered in your decision making, seek to understand the root cause of problems and don’t rush to solutions.
  • Comfortable sharing and presenting your ideas and solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in the design space (ie, writing for journeys, app, public website, dashboards, etc).
  • Experience in finance, asset management or other regulated industries strongly recommended.
