The Web Designer I is responsible for the design and maintenance of websites, ensuring they are visually appealing and user-friendly. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality web experiences and tools that effectively communicate the purpose of the web asset.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype user interfaces for web applications, tools, dashboards using tools like Figma, Moqups, etc.
  • Develop design templates and style guides to maintain uniformity in web assets.
  • Ensure all web designs adhere to accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance) through proper design and accessibility audits, and collaborate with developers to implement necessary adjustments.
  • Ensures websites, tools, and visualizations meet the sponsor’s guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborates with staff for website content and determines needs and assesses priorities.
  • Regularly review and update websites to ensure content is current and relevant, addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Assists in creating user guides, promotional materials, presentations, and other documents related to the sites, tools, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Monitor website performance and user feedback, making iterative improvements based on analytics and user behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
