Lead Product Designer - Autonomous Mobility & Delivery

Senior Product Designer role at Uber's Autonomous Mobility and Delivery team to shape the future of autonomous transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead human-centered experience design in a frontier domain: Shape how people engage with autonomous mobility and delivery, from first interaction to trip completion
• Define new interactions, flows, and systems where none exist today, while ensuring the experiences are inclusive, trustworthy, and grounded in real human needs
• Balance near-term execution with long-term vision: Design practical, scalable experiences for today while helping envision the future of autonomy in a multi-modal platform
• Design across digital, physical, and spatial touchpoints: Consider vehicle interfaces, mobile apps, location-aware systems, and human-robot interaction
• Translate complex physical and logistical systems into clear and intuitive user experiences
• Navigate ambiguity with confidence: Work in a highly dynamic environment with evolving technology, policies, and user expectations
• Identify opportunities, define problems, and set a clear design direction amidst uncertainty
• Partner deeply across disciplines: Work with engineering, PM, autonomy specialists, robotics teams, operations, and designers to drive cohesive end-to-end experiences
• Prototype and experiment rapidly: Use prototyping to test ideas early and often, from low-fidelity flows to high-fidelity motion and service walkthroughs

Requirements

• 7+ years of product design experience, with a track record of shipping digital products in fast-paced environments
• Experience building products for mobile apps, tablets, and web interfaces
• A degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, or a related field (preferred)
• Familiarity with designing across physical, digital, and spatial touchpoints, including geospatial or location-based systems (preferred)
• Strong prototyping and storytelling abilities to bring complex ideas to life (preferred)
• Proficiency with Figma and related design tools (preferred)
• Experience collaborating with user researchers, data scientists, and cross-functional technical teams (preferred)
• Ability to think at both a strategic system level and a tactical interaction level (preferred)
• Comfort working in areas with undefined problems, emerging technologies, or rapid iteration cycles (preferred)
