The Graphic Designer collaborates with department clients to create visual representations of ideas and concepts. They produce original print and digital projects, ensuring accuracy and clarity in visual information.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with department clients to provide graphic design product that will visually present ideas, concepts, and data to best support departmental programs and objectives; assesses graphic design needs; formulates and presents ideas and recommendations regarding media, formats, and design elements; prioritizes assignments; provides proofs or drafts for review and discussion; and completes projects on schedule.
  • Creates original print and digital projects using a variety of graphic design software and tools, to include videos, exhibits, signage, logos, newsletters, presentations, calendars, brochures, flyers, websites, emails, sketches, maps, or reports; selects appropriate media, materials, and formats; conceptualizes layouts; selects appropriate design elements; formats text and artwork; takes photographs for use in projects; writes or edits content as directed; ensures accuracy and clarity of visual information; and integrates elements to publish final project.
  • Produces and distributes final media projects; may operate print shop machinery and equipment to produce projects in-house; coordinates production of print, promotional, or audiovisual materials by outside vendors; and prepares, packages, and distributes final products.
  • Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies, digital design elements, and completed projects.
  • Maintains and upgrades knowledge of design practices, trends, computer software, and conputer hardware, and equipment.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, requests, and proof; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
  • Communicates with department staff, , other departments, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or related field required; one year of experience in graphics design, communications, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
