McGraw Hill is seeking a Product Design Supervisor to manage a team of product designers and collaborate across cross-functional teams to create engaging educational products for the Social Studies portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Product Designers to create engaging, effective, user friendly, print, and digital designs are delivered on time, scalable, and within budget
  • Contribute to portfolio plans, develop own team plans, and effectively prioritize work within the team
  • Understand the product vision and strategy for a given product and where own team goals fit into the broader context
  • Translates product goals into actionable steps for the team
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand problems to be solved and associated constraints; collaboratively generate potential innovative solutions within constraints
  • Expertly articulate rationale for design choices to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings and conversations with internal teams, vendors, and cross-functional peers
  • Proactively identifies risks and develops contingency plans
  • Demonstrates a strong collaborative style through a climate of trust, respect, empathy, and psychological safety
  • Oversees development of guidelines and expectations for vendors and project partners
  • Decisions and problem-solving are guided by the policies, procedures, and business plan
  • Track against budgets; is aware of what impacts costs and mitigates budget risks within part of a project; raises flags early when variances emerge

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, digital design, human centered design, or related field or relevant expertise required
  • 5 years of work experience with web and/or print visual design
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong visual sensibilities, compelling ideas, and a thorough understanding of design process
  • Understanding web standards, software, and technologies, including CSS, HTML, and Figma
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of agile methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Lucidchart, JIRA
