Principal UX Designer

The Principal UX Designer will collaborate with cross-functional product teams to drive innovation and elevate product offerings. They will lead design efforts, establish design patterns, and mentor junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Operate as a thought partner to our product leaders and stakeholders representing the voice of our users at every step, and sharing designs early and often, seeking constructive feedback and integrating feedback to improve solutions.
• Cascade context up to leadership and strategy down to teams.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, User Research and Design to drive strategic discovery and work with product and engineering leaders to drive dual track agile - advocating for best practices in UX process.
• Work with researchers to gather insights to help stakeholders explore solutions to challenging long-term product questions.
• Lead design efforts as well as work hands-on with the designs across our most complex cross-functional investments.
• Establish and drive consistent design patterns via our design system so that our users receive a cohesive experience regardless of which disparate business areas that the design work might originate in.
• Provide creative direction and conduct design reviews to ensure that the overall vision for products is achieved.
• Offer leadership within the design team, introducing new practices and influencing team members to try new methods; continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the design team. Mentor more junior members of the design staff, employing expertise in your craft to further the skillset of our team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience, including a strong background in UX strategy with a high bar for quality and impeccable attention to detail.
• Familiarity with visual design, UX design, prototyping, front-end development, user research and/or experiment design, with demonstrated mastery in at least two and expertise in two others.
• A foundation of AI, Natural Language and Machine Learning knowledge.
• Can work through ambiguity and knows how to acquire information independently, work independently, and in a team environment.
• Proven ability to create alignment among senior management on ideas/projects/process.
• Proven track record of collaborating effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Strong organization and analytic thinking skills, with ability to translate technically complex content into user scenarios, flows and diagrams.
• A deep understanding of the pillars of design systems, including principles, components, and patterns as both a design system consumer and design system contributor.
• Ability to make smart, strategic, and user-centered design decisions, while also being open to iterating continuously as needs, trends, and requirements change.
