Full-time Lead

The Principal Technical UI Designer will contribute to the vision of UI for Fortnite, focusing on complex user theming and UI systems. This role involves collaboration with UI leadership and engineering teams to develop new UI leveraging Unreal Engine technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the UI leadership and Engineering team to drive and develop new Fortnite UI leveraging new technologies and Unreal Engine.
  • Prototype and quickly iterate on proving out new concepts, features, and tools.
  • Defining and setting the standards for UI that are within memory and CPU constraints.
  • Mentoring other Tech UI Designers and contributing to the best practices and standards across the department.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation, architecture, and other supporting assets/examples for other engineers and designers to follow and execute.

Requirements

  • Worked on a AAA game in a Lead/Principal or Director role
  • Technical experience demonstrates a range of complex problem solving, performance improvements, tool building, and prototyping.
  • Deep experience with visual scripting languages such as Python, Lua or Blueprint.
  • Effective leader, collaborator, and problem solver able to coordinate with internal and external teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to accurately break down large ambiguous problems into manageable tasks, prototypes, and deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of various UI disciplines (UX design, UI art, Engineering, Product, and Gameplay Designers).
