Staff Product Designer

Lead design strategy and execution of large, complex projects that significantly impact customers and business. Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to understand customer needs and validate designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead design strategy and execution of large, complex, ambiguous projects that have significant impact on our customers and business.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering on strategy, planning, and execution.
- Work directly with customers to understand their needs, validate designs, and inform the strategy.
- Up-level the design team in skills, tools, and practice, while also instilling good design sense throughout the greater Samsara culture.
- Work directly with executive stakeholders on large initiatives and drive decision making.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as the company scales globally across new offices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product design experience designing UX/UI for web & mobile applications.
- Deep expertise in interaction and visual design at the Staff level.
- A strong portfolio and / or case studies showcasing design craft and ability to solve user-problems with quantified impact.
- Figma fluency and excellence in prototyping.
- Leader in using AI tools (e.g. Cursor, Figma Make) to accelerate workflows, boost creativity, and prototype efficiently.
- Track record of strategic influence and shipping impact.
- Ability to engage effectively with customers for research and strategy.
- Thrives in iterative, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent proven experience working with cross-functional partners.
Key Skills
- Figma fluency and excellence in prototyping.
- Leader in using AI tools (e.g. Cursor, Figma Make) to accelerate workflows, boost creativity, and prototype efficiently.
- Strong visual design skills.
- Advanced skills in Photoshop, UX prototyping, Illustrator, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, InVision, wireframing, and other mapping tools.
- Advanced knowledge of visual design, and information architecture.
- Advanced understanding of the trade-offs between optimum user experience and technical, information security, business constraints, and ability to propose optimized designs within those constraints.
