Lead research for developer tools related to application performance and quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize research opportunities and shape product strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead research for developer tools related to application performance, profiling, testing, and app quality.
- Drive research activities including interviews, cognitive walkthroughs, lab studies, diary studies, etc.
- Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers and other UX Researchers (UXRs) to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Help shape the strategy for integration of new Gemini-powered capabilities within Android Studio.
- Participate in product discussions, design reviews, and strategic research planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
- Experience with research design utilizing various methods (e.g., usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, etc.).
Key Skills
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages (such as Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, Swift, Objective C).
- Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.
- Familiarity with fundamental concepts of computer science.
- Passion for technology and eager to immerse themselves in a number of interesting and complex domains as they plan and conduct their research.
