The role involves creating visuals for websites, apps, and digital products to optimize user experience and drive conversion. The designer will solve complex design problems and develop a polished visual language that supports the brand and product.
Responsibilities
- Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings
- Use business requirements and market research to assist in developing use cases, high-level requirements
- Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and on-device software applications
- Art direct or design the visual design of the web and software applications
- Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups and prototypes
- Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications
- Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and executives for review feedback
- Contribute to the User Experience groups shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies
- Deeply understands both the business ecosystem (ex. 4 Ps) and the end-user (ex. pain points, motivation, and goals)
- Owns user problems more generally β itβs not about working on one problem but rather, traversing multiple products in order to ensure that users are successful in their specific tasks
- Identifies the gaps and opportunities in complex systems, suggests and designs improvements, including new features
- Understands and utilizes the emotional and experiential components that make a feature or overall product work
- Knows how to observe behavior, looks beyond the results of experiments, and discovers what can bring real value to the users
- Executes as quickly as possible (more on velocity not speed)
- Focuses on creating visuals for websites, apps, and digital products that optimize the user experience and drive conversion
- Solves complex design problems with well-established design solutions that are scalable and strategic
- Develops a polished visual language with the appropriate look and feel to support the brand, product, and content presented
- Creates pixel-precise & dynamic design components; prepares their spec requirements for development; and oversees the component lifecycle
- Creates original graphical elements like type, icons, illustrations, and impactful key visuals
- Collaborates with developers in aligning visual designs with mobile and web functionalities
- Keeps track of advancements in visual design technologies and applications, as well as industry trends
- Develops and enhances the design system used to ensure that design is consistent throughout different customer channels and touchpoints
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Information Design, Interaction Design, Multimedia, Graphic Design, Marketing, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in creating and implementing UX strategy, UI design, or Design Systems
- Advanced knowledge in user experience, user interface, and web design
- A strong understanding of the fundamentals of graphic design, identity design, and branding
- Exceptional visual messaging and communication skills
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
- Proficiency in front-end design (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a HUGE advantage!)
- Familiarity with design processes and product life cycle
- Design craftsmanship and quality assurance
- Hard skills needed to design with intent and purpose (experience in animation and design to development handoff is a BIG plus!)
- Proficiency in using Figma and FigJam or any design platform
