Design intuitive user interfaces and workflows for in-vehicle digital cockpit components while leading usability efforts for internal software tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage external design vendors to ensure design consistency and adherence to usability standards.
Responsibilities
- Create intuitive, innovative user interfaces and workflows for in-vehicle digital cockpit components
- Lead design and usability efforts for internal software tools
- Partner closely with software engineers, product managers, system architects, and embedded systems teams
- Manage and guide external UI/UX design firms
- Collaborate with research partners to define study parameters, analyze user feedback, and apply insights into iterative design
- Contribute to and help evolve Aptiv’s global design language and UX guidelines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic/Interaction Design, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in UX/UI design, ideally within automotive, embedded systems, or complex user interface ecosystems
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI designs, interactive prototypes, and documentation for multimodal user experiences
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe CC, Axure, Sketch, and relevant prototyping software
- Solid understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and UX for embedded/HMI systems
- Experience working with external vendors and research agencies is a strong plus
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills in a cross-functional environment
Key Skills
