Head of Product Design

The Head of Product Design at Storio leads the product design practice, manages a team of designers, and drives continuous improvement in design processes and systems.

Responsibilities

• People Leadership & Development: Direct line management, coaching, and career development of Product Designers.
• Product Design Practice and Operations: Lead meeting cadences, standardise ways of working, ensure effective design crits, and maintain optimal design tooling contracts.
• Define Key Design Documentation: Lead the definition and implementation of scalable approaches to mapping key customer journeys.
• Co-Own the Design System: Co-own and champion the adoption of the design system, ensuring it is scalable, maintainable, and used appropriately.
• Own the relationship with the Brand team to ensure visual identity is appropriate for in-journey use.
• Lead & Evolve the Product Discovery Process: Define and evolve the Product Discovery framework for the design team.
• Accessibility: Own the timeline and approach to meeting WCAG AA standards, driving and overseeing the Product Design team's adoption.
• Provide thought leadership: Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and methodologies to introduce innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with UX research: Embed best practice usability testing and assessment methods in the Product Design team.
• Outcome Measurement: Measure progress towards internal adoption of process, tools and standards, regularly reporting on these outcomes.

Requirements

• Proven People Leadership Experience: Direct line management experience managing Product Designers.
• Extensive Design Leadership Experience: Significant product design experience at a senior leadership level.
• Deep Expertise in Defining and Embedding Design Process: Proven track record of defining, implementing, and iterating on product design processes.
• Leading Discovery Methods and Processes: Proven experience facilitating and guiding teams in discovery methods and processes.
• Setting up or Managing a Design System: Experience with setting up, managing, or evolving a design system.
• Designing Accessible User Journeys: Demonstrable experience designing accessible user journeys to WCAG AA standards.
• Excellent Communication and Storytelling Skills: Ability to articulate complex design challenges and opportunities.
• Strategic Collaboration: Experience collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, and UX Research in an agile environment.
• Design Capacity Management & Prioritisation: Proven experience prioritising design tasks and managing design capacity.
• Outcome Measurement: Experience defining and delivering on design success measures and metrics.
