Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end product design process from concept to production
- Utilize CAD and CAE tools to create, refine, and optimize product designs
- Conduct structural, thermal, and mechanical simulations to validate design feasibility
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams to develop cost-effective, manufacturable solutions
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers
- Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and material selection based on performance, durability, and sustainability
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies
- Assist in prototyping and testing to ensure all products meet quality and performance standards
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of design iterations, specifications, and processes
- Support the intellectual property (IP) process by contributing to patent applications
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED; associate degree in design and/or certificate in design strongly preferred
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo
- Strong experience with CAE tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar for structural and thermal analysis
- Extensive experience in product design, preferably in consumer goods, automotive, or outdoor living industries
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing
- Strong knowledge of materials and their properties, including plastics, metals, and composites
- Proven ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and presentation skills to convey design concepts and solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
